Step 1 •
Letter of Inquiry
In order to initiate a proposal to the
Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation,
a one-page letter of inquiry must be received
by 5:00 pm CST on April 15th or October
15th of each calendar year. Should the deadline
fall on a weekend or national holiday, the
letter is due the following business day.
The letter should include the following
criteria:
• Contact Name
• Contact Phone Number
• Contact Email
• Background of the organization and
the date founded
• Project(s) detail
• Amount requested
• Accreditation status
• Total project cost
• Federal Tax ID Number
• An attached list of the organization’s
Board of Directors
• An attached list of journalism courses
if a College or University
Once your letter has been reviewed by
the Foundation, we will contact you via
email by May 1st or November 1st. The contact
information listed on your letter of inquiry
is where correspondence is sent. If you
do not receive email notification by that
date, contact us immediately. Following
up on a letter of inquiry is your organization’s
responsibility. If approved, you will be
asked to move on to the Application process
in Step 2 of this website.
